Senior Data Scientist to Manta Marine Technologies
Are you a data scientist eager to build something from the ground up? Do you also want to help promote a healthy planet for future generations? We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Gothenburg office, where you will build and lead a team dedicated to developing and implementing machine learning models that will transform the future of the maritime industry.
Since 2010, we have been at the forefront of maritime emissions reduction, partnering with shipowners, yards, and naval architects to drive the transition to sustainable shipping. Today, Manta Marine offers a portfolio of green technologies, such as fuel optimization systems and turnkey shore power solutions. Manta Marine is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, with offices in Sweden, Poland, and China.
What you will do
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will establish the foundations of this new team at Manta Marine. This involves establishing structures and driving the development process from the ground up. You will design frameworks, build scalable AI/ML architectures, and create data-driven solutions to transform maritime operations. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will implement advanced analytics solutions to optimize vessel performance, enhance decision-making, and improve overall efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable AI/ML architectures, including data pipelines, algorithms, and models, ensuring optimal performance.
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to optimize fuel consumption, vessel performance, and route optimization.
- Leverage sensor and weather data to optimize vessel performance and route selection.
- Ensure data accuracy and governance and help implement data-driven practices across the organization.
Who you are
We see that you have:
- A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Data Science or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data science and development of ML models. Meritorious with candidates with experience in the maritime industry and maritime-specific data sources (e.g., AIS, sensor data).
- Proficiency in Python, R, Java or other relevant programming languages.
- Expertise in machine learning frameworks and a strong understanding of data analysis tools.
- Understanding of maritime regulations and sustainability initiatives (e.g., IMO’s environmental regulations) is meritorious.
- Experience using cloud platforms like AWS for handling large-scale data and deploying models is meritorious.
To succeed in this role, we believe you are solution-oriented and analytical. You enjoy working in a collaborative and supportive environment and appreciate a fast-paced international setting. You also have a talent for managing and guiding others to achieve shared goals. Additionally, you are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
