Engineering Manager to T-Unit
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager who will help a small, talented group of engineers do great work while we build an AI-native platform for crisis management and decision support!
T-Unit
We’re a well-funded, mission-driven startup building tools that help society handle crises, everything from security threats and natural disasters to extreme weather. Our platform supports simulation, scenario planning, incident management and early warning, helping people make better decisions when things really matter.
About the role
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager who will help a small, talented group of engineers do great work while we build an AI-native platform for crisis management and decision support. You’ll work across backend, frontend, data/AI and infrastructure, and help us turn messy, high-stakes problems into systems that actually work when things go wrong.
What you’ll do
• Support and lead engineers across all parts of the product: backend, frontend, data/AI and infra
• Help the team stay focused on the right problems and ship useful things at a sustainable pace
• Keep the technical direction coherent as the platform grows
• Make sure reliability, security and robustness are never an afterthought
• Work closely with product, founders and domain experts to turn ideas into working systems
• Set up simple, lightweight ways of planning and collaborating (no process for process’ sake)
• Be involved in hiring and growing the team, and help create a culture people want to be part of
• Help us evolve how we work as the company grows—without losing speed or ownership
What you bring
You don’t need to tick every box. If this sounds exciting, that’s already a good sign.
• Experience leading or coaching software engineers
• A solid technical background and good system-level intuition
• Comfort working across different stacks and problem areas
• Experience with cloud, infrastructure or dev-ops (or a strong interest in it)
• A pragmatic mindset: you know when “good enough” is good enough, and when it isn’t
• You communicate clearly, care about people, and like solving problems together
Nice to have (but not required)
• Experience with AI systems, local models or decision-support tools
• Interest in simulation, GIS, complex domains or real-time systems
• Experience from early-stage startups or building teams from scratch
What we offer
• Competitive compensation and meaningful equity upside
• A flexible work setup in a domain that actually matters
• Real influence over both technology and how the team works
• Room to grow as the company grows
• A kind, ambitious team that values trust, inclusion and learning
We welcome people of all backgrounds and identities. As part of our recruitment process, background checks are included.
